Light as a feather yet bold in character, the design of this bracelet embodies my revisitation of ethnic jewellery.
The base consists of a silk band featuring the iconic Ikat pattern: a weaving technique that creates designs with soft, vibrant contours. Here, the shades come alive in tones of red, from vermilion to burgundy, evoking the warm atmosphere of Indian markets.
At the centre of the band, a vintage Indian silver-alloy bead stands out as the focal point, whilst on either side, faceted purple crystals create a bold and sophisticated colour contrast with the red of the silk.
This piece is part of the “Ceci n’est pas du rouge” collection presented in London for the exhibition – The Living Trace – Cluster Jewellery
